Dr Omar Djoeandy

Missions Engagement Consultant
Omar is ethnically Chinese, born in Indonesia and an Australian for over 50 years. During his youth, his passion to serve cross-culturally grew as his eyes were opened to global needs. His diverse roles include as a medical doctor in Sydney and Nairobi, an Associate Pastor at Nairobi Chapel, Kenya (1998-2003), the National Director of SIM Australia (2004-2019), and preaching in 12 countries. He is married to Kay, and they have three adult children.
Omar inspires, informs, and mentors individuals and churches, urging them to participate in God’s global mission. To truly serve in God’s mission, middle-class Christians must reject worldly success, treasure Jesus, and prioritise His kingdom over their comforts. This shift in perspective will increase witnesses and funding to take the gospel to least-reached communities. A key aspect of Omar’s ministry is the integration of mission mobilisation with the message of the book he published in 2020, Redefining Success According to Jesus.
