Prayer is at the heart of everything we do as SIM, in sending and supporting mission workers to share the Good News of Jesus with the least reached. By Prayer, SIM Australia gives thanks to God in our centenary of "Serving in Mission". We honour our foundations past – for those who planted and watered together for the Gospel over the past 100 years.

In 1 Corinthians 3:11, Paul shares; “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have – Jesus Christ”. We work together with one purpose – all in His Name!

SIM Australia’s centenary is a celebration of His enduring faithfulness, and a call for courage and conviction in the mission of making disciples of Jesus in all nations.

We entrust all that God has accomplished through SIM’s ministry in Australia – a rich history of His calling for workers to serve in communities where people are living and dying without knowing Him.

By Prayer, three courageous young men were compelled to take the Gospel to 60 million unreached people of the Soudan region. In 1893, Bingham, Gowans and Kent followed God’s mission heart to sub-Saharan Africa. This marked the birth of Sudan Interior Mission – now known as SIM (Serving in Mission).

Bingham had a vision to spread the Gospel to the 12 million unreached people of East Africa. He visited the Southern Hemisphere and opened the door to establish SIM Australia in 1927.

God stirred the heart of one of the first SIM Australia mission workers, Glen Cain, to serve with a small team in East Africa. This movement gained momentum as local communities heard and accepted the Good News of Jesus.

Today, through God's faithfulness, we see thriving churches in Ethiopia continue to partner with SIM to disciple, mobilise, equip and send workers to reach the world.

Throughout our history, SIM Australia has witnessed God raise up men and women convinced of His mission to see lives transformed as people hear the Gospel. His hands have been present in every milestone – from the planting of churches and building of hospitals and schools, to the countless baptisms and lives transformed by the Gospel.

Whether by sailing ship or by 747 planes, SIM workers have carried the same message: a loving God sending His Son to bring eternal life to a lost world.
