We live in a time in history that abounds with examples of failed leadership. In contrast we are convinced that godly leadership, leadership that looks and feels like Jesus, is essential to any ministry that reflects the precious good news of salvation in Christ. We know that only as we lead in ways that please the Lord will our teams and ministries flourish in fruitfulness.

This ministry is built around the three key ingredients to successful leader development: a stretching leadership assignment, good instruction, and effective mentoring. At both very senior-level leadership and at mid-level leadership we draw together cohorts of those who are currently leading SIM (and other) teams. They are matched with experienced mentors who guide them through self-directed growth areas of leadership skill and character. The mentors grow in their discipling skills. The leaders grow in character and competence.

Our philosophy of leadership that we teach is based on the biblical images of the loving shepherd, the humble servant, and the faithful steward. Learning to share leadership with gifted co-leaders is a key component of our approach. As we grow in unity as leaders, the culture of our mission teams continually are drawn towards Christlikeness in live and in ministry.
